Bring and Buy Terms and Conditions

HaruhiCon Bring & Buy Info

Thanks for your interest in the HaruhiCon Bring & Buy! Here is where you’ll find all the info on how to take part in the Bring & Buy.

This information is in 3 parts: the Terms & Conditions, the Guidelines, and the Restricted Items section.

HaruhiCon Bring & Buy Terms & Conditions

  • By entering your items into the HaruhiCon Bring & Buy (‘B&B’) you accept these Terms & Conditions. ‘Check-in’ refers to dropping off your items for the Bring & Buy. ‘Collection’ refers to when you pick up your items and any proceeds from sales after the Bring & Buy.
  • You must complete the form provided on the HaruhiCon website before checking in to the Bring & Buy, and use the labels provided. You agree to have the HaruhiCon volunteers and committee process sales of these items according to the listed prices.
  • 85% of the value of your sold items will be paid out to you in cash at collection. 15% will be retained by HaruhiCon, of which 12% will be donated to the chosen convention charity and 3% will cover transaction and handling fees.
  • Unsold items will be returned to you at collection. Uncollected items will be disposed of by HaruhiCon at their discretion. We will make reasonable efforts to return uncollected monies and in the event that any money remains uncollected we will donate this to charity.
  • Items must not be illegal to sell in the UK, or part of the ‘restricted items’ listed in the accompanying Bring & Buy Guide found below the T&Cs. Items must be clean and in fair condition. HaruhiCon reserves the right to refuse or remove any item from the B&B.
  • HaruhiCon does not accept liability for goods entered into or sold at the B&B, and all items are sold as seen.
  • If you have any questions please use the Contact Us form on the website or ask a committee member or gopher at the event.

HaruhiCon Bring & Buy Guide

  • Fill in the form on the HaruhiCon website to list any items you’re bringing to the B&B and their prices. You can edit the form later if you want to add or remove items. Your list of items is linked to your ticket code.
  • We will print sticky-back scannable barcodes for each of your items listed in the form for you to collect with your badge at registration on Friday (or from Ops if you register at another time, forget to pick up your labels, your labels aren’t ready to collect or if you need more)
  • Please make a reasonable effort to label your items before dropping them off at the Bring and Buy. This helps conserve the efforts of committee and volunteers. Please ensure labels are flat for scanning and easy to see on your items.
  • Please bring items in packaging where possible. If you have items such as plushies, loose keychains, or cosplays, we strongly suggest that you pre-package these in clear plastic bags to allow us to label them more easily.
  • You may bring an unlimited amount of items within reason. If you’ve brought them in a convenient box, you may leave that with us and we’ll label it to be returned to you at collection.
  • If you choose to drop off unlabeled items we do not guarantee being able to label all of your items, this will be limited pending committee and volunteer time availability such as it does not obstruct their other duties to the convention and within reasonable operating hours.
  • The sale of ‘adult content / 18+’ items (hentai, doujinshi, etc.) is allowed, but please ensure that your items comply with UK law. 18+ items will be kept in one area of the B&B and labelled as Adult Content to avoid giving anyone a surprise.
  • Check-in will be on Friday after registration. The B&B room will be open for sales on Saturday. Collection will be open on Sunday. For detailed drop-off, pick-up or B&B opening times please check the event schedule. If you miss check-in or collection, please speak to the team in Ops who will be able to help.
  • If you do not wish to collect unsold items after the B&B we will be able to donate them to the gopher party or the Freecycle table on request.
  • Purchases at the Bring & Buy can be paid for in cash or with credit/debit cards (including American Express) via SumUp card reader. We will only be paying out for sold items with cash.

Restricted Items

  • All items must comply with UK laws. No weapons, no counterfeit goods, no bootlegs.
  • Cosplay weapons are permitted if they comply with HaruhiCon’s cosplay prop guidelines.
  • Items should be in fair condition, and if they do have any damage or missing parts we will ask you to give details on an additional label.
  • Please don’t bring food to the B&B, unless it is to feed the staff. Venue policies forbid the sale of food and drink in the vendor and event rooms.
  • Blu-rays and DVDs should be the UK release where possible. If you have items from outside the European region (Region 2 for DVDs / Region B for Blu-ray) this must be clearly marked and the region listed.
  • VHS tapes are only permitted under exceptional circumstances, e.g. something extremely rare or unusual.
  • Manga should be in readable condition, with no missing pages. If you have non-English manga please label it as such.
  • This list is non-exhaustive and we may refuse items for reasons not listed above.
